Hi everyone! Today Nick and I went to the Health Department to get our 'childhood immunizations' up-to-date for the initial Physical Examination for the Peace Corps medical clearance process (before we get invited anywhere specific). Well, what I thought might be a 20-minute give-us-the-shots-and-sign-the-paper turned into a 2 hour lecture on all possible health mishaps that could plague us anywhere in Asia while living there for two years. Now, it was helpful, and we learned that we should think independently of the recommendations of the Peace Corps for health precautions, but! We had to learn about everything from people diseases to vector-borne diseases to water filtration, while animated nurse C---- made clicking noises, dug for pamphlets from the bottom of her shelf, and threatened us if Nick doesn't get his immunization records from highschool so she can put together a comprehensive record for him (his was lost somewhere in college). Anyway, we escaped with the necessary shots (polio for us both, Td booster for Nick), and tonight faxed in all remaining paperwork that we had control over. That consisted basically of short essays about medical incidents in the past, nothing big. We are waiting on some paperwork from a counselor that Nick saw 3 years ago, then we will have it all in.
At that time there will be huge annoying gifs flashing at you from this page that we have it all in, and are awaiting medical clearance :)
Wish us luck!
