Anticipation of the second step

As it nears the end of April, we are getting excited that we could be nominated next month. Here is part of the e-mail we got last week about timeframes in the national office.

Hi Alison,

I will be sending the info up to Atlanta soon. The due date for the submission of your application is 8 May. Then Placement has 2 weeks to review all applications. After two weeks, they'll inform the Regional Manager--which for Atlanta is Brian P--- to let them know of who they are accepting and who is not accepted at this time. If you and Nick are not accepted at this time, your applications will be put in the next pool of applicants in about 3 or so months. So don't give up if that happens! =) After I send your application, your contact will be Brian P--- or another recruiter. So please call the Atlanta office if you have any questions after 5 May. Good luck to you and please let me know how the process goes for you. You can send me an email here and I"ll catch it when I get back. =)

So look for another post the week of May 22. As far as the rest of our lives right now, I am going to a conference in Calgary, Alberta in a few weeks, and nailing down my thesis outline. I also have a heinous proposal due this Friday in a class called 'Polymer Composites.' You can imagine ... Nick is doing well, trying to organize (and unite?) the employees at his coffee shop for the extended hours during finals week, and the setup for the summer.

Our minister, whom Nick now calls Pastor E, along with KBird, gave a great lesson this morning about wilderness experiences, how a person can be formed by very lonely or trying times. Interesting to think of instances like that in the Bible, throughout history, then even in the lives of our friends.

Wish us luck-
